Sanur, Bali - Indonesia
This homey cafe abode lies on the southeast coast of Indonesia's beautiful Bali, in the sleepy sea town of Sanur. Who knew the Balinese could do brunch this good?
When you think of South East Asia, and Bali specifically, dancing dreams of dishes like the salty-ly satisfying nasi goreng, roasted suckling pork or sweet, black rice pudding may come to mind. But believe me when I tell you, the Balinese can make a mean brunch. Surprised? Me too. Stay tuned.
Walking into The Porch Cafe is like strolling across the street to your neighbor's house or showing up late on a Sunday to your aunt's for brunch. The homey restaurant, which is dominantly comprised of a large patio area and an Australian style wrap around deck, habitually hums with the warm, maternal energy of its cooks and waitresses- local Balinese women whose infectious laughter fills the open-aired space with the delightful wafts of eggs, brewing coffee, garlic aioli toast and citrusy tonics.
With fresh pressed juices (pick any combo you like for an invigorating morning tonic), surprisingly good Arabica coffee and deliciously fresh local produce forging a range of dishes anywhere from farm fresh egg breakfasts and local Balinese cuisine to American/European influenced plates; The Porch Cafe is a welcome home for your next meal in Sanur.
