Bangkok, Thailand
Down a quiet side street, away from the colorful, overstimulating, overwhelming and fantastically strange sounds and smells of the city; just around the bend from the Democracy Arch lies a welcoming locale which you can call home during your stay in capital of the "Land of Smiles."
Here Hostel recently open it’s doors to local and international travelers alike just over a year ago in Bangkok, Thailand. You cannot get much better in terms of location, just a quick two minute walk to a local bus stop that will take you around the city, 25 minute walk to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew (housing the famous and unimaginably large, golden Buddha), 5 minute walk to a hole in the wall local restaurant that will blow your mind, and yes, just a 7 minute walk to the infamous Koh San Road.
Walk in off the hot, 100 degree Thai streets and you are instantly welcome by lovely AC (which will become your best friend in the next few days), a fridge full of cold beverages, a laid-back atmosphere and the warm smiles of the reception. Any assistance that was needed in terms of directions, advice for site seeing, any random questions and food recommendations, etc. was immediately fulfilled with a genuineness that was incredible endearing. While the hostel is fantastic in terms of its laid back, “old meets new” decor, it is truly the hospitality and warmth of the staff that put this hostel on a level surpassing that of its competitors.
Besides great amenities and the incredible cleanliness- (this place has even some hotels beat on this level!), the hostel attracts a very amicable crowd of travelers, the perfect melange of laid back meets partying backpackers. You will instantly make friends here- people to explore the city with, eat a delicious Here Hostel breakfast with and adventure into the late night hours of Koh San Road.
Don’t worry about sleeping- the hostel was usually completely quiet by 1 am and everyone was quiet respectful of those needing to sleep early to catch an early morning train onto their next adventure. Just close your little curtains and you are left with privacy to quickly fall asleep in your cool space. Plus, each bed came with its own cubby with plenty of space to store even the largest of backpacking packs. In regards to security, there was always someone at the front desk and every guest was adorned with a key card to enter any doors in and out of the hostel, so you and your belongings are very well looked after!
Stay up late and grab a cold beer with friends, discuss the day's adventures in the common room whose doors open wide to the streets, sleep in and grab a delicious breakfast made specific for each dweller and adventure out- you will always be taken care of. Don’t forget to pay attention to all the lovely and intimate details this place offers- there has been a lot of love and thought put into it! Be sure to take a ride down the slide at the front at least once on your way out! If you’re looking for a place that feels like coming home, you’ve found it.
