Sweet Nostalgia - Wes Anderson's Bar Luce

Milan, Italy

Adorned with the iconic pastel colored palette of pinks, greens and mustards, Wes Anderson’s Bar Luce is a wonderful step into the past and tribute to the infamous films of the iconic American director and producer.

One grey afternoon, my friend and I had plans to spend the day immersed in art- zoned out in fashion and design at the Fondazione Prada, located a bit outside the city. Grey quickly turned into a dark blue as the skies unloaded a torrential Milanese winter downpour. After hours of wandering the Foundation and trying to dry off, we decided a warm coffee was in desperate need.

Crossing the long, stone, grey hallway, we turned the corner only to stumble into another decade. A whimsy of various sized candy jars, bustling waiters and bar tenders buttoned up in white dress shirts and black bow ties, pinball machines from the 70's and the nostalgic diner booth furniture from the very same decade. The bar was already filled with the hums and buzz of a full blown aperitivo, likely at its peak as the clock has just rounded 8 pm. This was Bar Luce.

Adorned with the iconic pastel colored palette of pinks, greens and mustards, Wes Anderson’s Bar Luce is a wonderful step into the past and tribute to the infamous films of the iconic American director and producer. It won't take long for the bar and cafe to seduce you- from it’s 70’s style pin ball machines and charming bar tenders to its irresistible candy and gelato corner. Stop by in the early hours of the morning, for a fulfilling Italian coffee or in the evening for a refreshing cocktail to escape the city bustle and enjoy a moment in another era.
